Girl's night out & Independence day

Yesterday was girl's night out. Good fun. I've met some cool ladies here in Reykjavik. Looks like we will make it into a regular occasion too.

Today is Independence Day, Iceland celebrates their independence from Denmark, weather is a bit gray, so I am not out looking at the parades.

Tyrannis BBQ Weekend

For this release we also got a nice EVE Tyrannis mug apart from the token T-shirt.
The mug came in quite handy during the BBQ at CCP Friday night.
It was a good night out and Saturday was mainly spend on the couch flipping through various channels. I missed the England vs USA match though.

Sunday I watched Germany vs Australia at Bjarni Fels (the local sportsbar). Not many days til Denmark's match vs Netherlands. Good thing that we will be able to watch all games at CCP , we are streaming via RUV and there is also a big screen in the dining area.

60,453 pilots: The new EVE PCU record

We've now reached a new milestone in EVE Online, with 60,453 pilots logged in today during Alliance Tournament VIII. Our thanks goes out to the many players who made this happen. The bar has been raised and we look forward to what the coming weeks will bring in tandem with Alliance Tournament VIII and the Planetary Interaction land rush.

Weekend of Ash

So Friday the wind changed direction and came straight from the volcano, which means Reykjavik experienced massive amounts of ash. The recommended safety level is around 50 and we hit 270. Still today I cannot see Esja from my window, which is usually easy to do, even on overcast days. So I have stayed inside since I came home early Saturday morning from the team building dinner at Vegamot, Kaffibarinn and Barbaras. :) (it was a very good night out).

Yesterday it was mostly gray anyway, but today the sun is out again, however I'll stay inside just in case, what with me having hay fever and all, I wont risk some asthma attack sneaking up on me. Better safe than sorry, since I have not bought any medication yet. I have not bought any medication since the levels of pollen has simply been so low, that I have barely felt any hay fever this year. Normally I am pretty miserable for 4-5 days in May when the Birch trees explode in Copenhagen, but luckily they are few and far apart here in Reykjavik.

It hasn't been all that bad staying inside though, as I have discovered a rather enjoyable free to play MMO called Allods, it is heavily inspired by WOW, but the world has enough of its own quirky charm to keep you captivated. Well at least when playing the Empire (the evil side I assume) which borrows its look and feel from soviet Russia. The quest dialogue is quite amusing and tha artwork easy on the eye, with the arisen faction being of particular interesting design.

What to play...

So I have:
  • Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
  • Pokemon Soulsilver (NDS)
  • DoW2: Chaos Rising (PC)
  • Torchlight (PC)
  • League of Legends (PC)
  • WoW (PC)
  • King Arthur (PC-Demo)
..and I can't decide what to play really....

What to read....

So I practically finished reading the entire Ultimate Marvel Universe (best marvel there is) in chronological order and I am just 50 odd pages from finishing American Gods (read it!) by Neil Gaiman.

Lucky enough though, this morning one of my fellow CCP'er decided to clear out his book collection and he is giving away a lot of his fantasy and scifi books for free, which is really nice of him. So I have added a fantasy biography of Dhengis Khan to my bedtime reading.

Female Worgen Models

Female Worgen models are now available for viewing on Arena Junkies.
Damn, just 2 days after I cancel my last 2 WOW accounts, now I am tempted to prepare for Cataclysm :)

Tyrannis

Went online last week amidst the busyness that is associated with release planning at CCP, hence why I have not posted about it here.

But here it is:

The latest and greatest expansion from CCP, for free of course :)
Who loves their customers? :)
