Fun!

Ok, I am back home and it is 03:18 in the morning.
It was great fun, especially the after party.
The DJ played some fantastic retro tunes that brought me back to my London days, amazing set, well played. It is certainly not the last time I shall attend one of his sessions.

I will write more tomorrow when I am ab it more level headed :O)
But hey I ate shark!

It's still snowing

Snowed all night, snowed all day, still snowing a bit as a post.
But is isn't really that cold when you walk outside.

Here is a shot from this morning when I walked to work.

Here is Laugavegur.

...and this one is taken from my office window, see the Icelandic workforce is still out, defying the elements, this would not have happened in Denmark ;)

Yes walking to CCP today, I amuzed myself with picturing how the Danish news on TV2 or DR1 would present a 1 day snow"storm" event like this. Probably treating it as an event of biblical proportions.

Grettisgata

Walking home from CCP, I walk towards the big church in the middle of the photo, then turn left when I get halfway down the street.
If I time my home trip correctly, I am treated to beautiful sunset colors:

Cool graffiti, close to were I live:

CCP (photo update)

I have so many pictures on my camera that are just sitting there, here is a bunch from CCP.
Some of them are from last X-mas that is why you can see the X-mas decorations in places :)

Worth playing

Getting bored now the weather is cold?
Check out these games :

Mass Effect 2.
Amazing, in my opinion one of the finest new IPs.

Torchlight.
Delightful Diablo 2 homage, cheap too, get it on Steam.

Puzzle Quest Galactrix.
Yes I know people say the original is better, however I quite enjoy Galactrix.

Fun From Spam

Spam is ever providing a daily doses of entertainment and fun at CCP.
If I am ever tired at 15:00 and need a kick, Spam delivers 100%

Here is a collection of fun things that are of the more ahmm sane kind:

For the ST and EVE fans, a fun comic:

It started snowing

View from my living room.

Yes it just started snowing! :O)
Let's see how long it lasts this time. We had a tiny bit of snow last Friday, lasted 20 min or so.
But this time it looks good!

Circumstances are certainly favorable, as it has certainly been cold the last couple of days. I religiously wear my windbreakers when I walk to work in the morning. However I didn't wear them when walking back home yesterday and my thighs were really cold. It took me both my work out regime, a warm shower, tea and blankets to get my core temperature up to normal again.

MP Bank's add

MP Bank is CCP's bank (also my bank)
Here is an add they just made:

The text says something like:
“CCP rules an economy that spans multiple solar systems. We are their bank.”

Steampunk

Jolly Good!

There are some really nice homemade gadgets on that site, check out the picture below...

I has a Buff

http://www.buffwear.co.uk/

Nice multipurpose headgear, mine is from "66 North".

I went to bed at 23:00 yesterday so I woke up really early today.
Walked to Kaffitár bought coffee and croissants for breakfast and watched Reykjavik come to life in the early morning hours. Now I know how the town can look so clean even though the Rekjavikans party that hard :). Every Saturday morning the streets are just cleaned and the trash removed.

Went to Skeifan, with one of my colleagues from CPP. Skeifan is an area with lot's of shops (not a mall). There his a massive 66 North store as well as bicycle shops and electronic stores. Good place to shop when the weather is good. It takes about 40 min to walk there, from where I live, and the weather was great today, so it was a really nice trip.

JohnB

Hey what do you know, one of my all time fav DJs made it into DJ magz top 100.

http://www.myspace.com/johnbbeta

Good week so far.

Back from a nice dinner with one of my colleagues.
Went to check out the best Thai place in Reykjavik, then off to Kafibaren, which gets amazingly crowded over weekends and apparently is the place to hang out.

It has been a good week so far. Things are happening at a nice pace at work and I am really enjoying myself. I am also imensley happy with having found a bigger place to live.

I think I'll aim at chasing down the Aurora Borealis this weekend. Conditions are perfect at the moment and almost every night there has been northern lights over Reykjavik, one CCP'er captured this:

Pictures from the weekend trip

Went on a really cool trip with some of my fellow CCP'ers last Saturday.
Got a chance to enjoy some of Iceland's amazing nature for the first time.

Gullfoss waterfall

Cool rocks near the geysers we saw.

Geyser.

Thermal power plant! how cool is that :)

Bolludagur

The equivalent of Danish "Fastelavn" is called "Bolludagur" in Iceland.

It is an event held before Ash Wednesday , were you traditionally consume delicious creme buns like the one shown on the picture beneath.
Kids also dress up in costumes and sing to get candy.

Yesterday was Bolludagur and CCP had generous offerings of creme buns available.
Today was the dress up day and singing in reception earned you various pieces of candy.

Back from a great trip to Copenhagen

Hectic but great weekend in Copenhagen, but it was also good to see beautiful Reykjavik again when I returned Sunday.

Friday.
Got up too late, went to work for 3 hours before heading to the airport. The flight to Denmark was amazing, I got a window seat and with no cloud in sight, I was treated to one spectacular view of the incredible Icelandic nature. Copenhagen on the other hand was covered in clouds and gray snow, so only when I reached the outskirts, could I enjoy the snow covered scenery.
My husband and I went to town on the take away sushi, got the best combo called the "Score Menu" bought sake and some Japanese beer too, then after having dined we packed the last of the items in our old flat.

Saturday.
Up at 0800. Fresh bread from the baker, yum. 0900 the movers arrived sharp, with a massive truck, and 4 incredibly helpful guys, who managed to move all our furniture, as well as the massive trash pile, in roughly 5 hours. Fantastic job!
Here are some shots from Thomas' new apartment, in of the "tower" @ Bispebjerg Bakke:

Bedroom will be in an awesome circular room:

All the furniture from 3 balconies now compiled on 1 for the time being:

Couch & tv area:

Amazing how much stuff one can accumulate, half of this is my stuff as well:

This will be the dining area:

A look down the entire length of the apartment:

My trip to Copenhagen actually coincided with the Danish qualification round for the Eurovision Song Contest, or as we have always called it in Denmark Melodi Grand Prix. Now I won't call my self a Eurovision Song Contest fan, I detested the show for many years, because Denmark was so ahmm crap, however, there has always been a certain nostalgic fascination connected to the show, which had it's golden days in the 80's. But hey you are in Denmark and the competition for the Danish song is on, you have to watch it. So did the best song win...hmmm, I don't think so.
I must admit I liked no 10.

Sunday.
Up early to fill the empty suitcase I brought with me. Finding time to call my parents and also to relax a bit and enjoy a nice breakfast with my husband before heading back to Iceland at 13:20.

Hectic but fun.
Oh and also adding a new Whiskey to the collection.

Thursday 4 February 2010

Copenhagen tomorrow

I'm flying back to Copenhagen tomorrow, to help my husband pack and move to a new apartment.
Going to work early and leaving at noon to catch the plane from Keflavik at 14:15.
Bags are packed, tickets paid, so now it is just to kick back and relax.

It has been a great week so far at CCP, so nothing like a good ending to it by spending time with the hubby.

What's hot and what's hot!

Mjólkur Kex.
Biscuits, plain biscuits yes, but damn are they good!
Best biscuits ever period.

Tromp.
Licorice, marzipan and chocolate, sounds weird, well it's not, it's fantastic!

Nizza.
More licorice and milk chocolate, this time in a handy candy bar.

Noí Síríus, making/selling all the wonderful licorice candy.

That was one quick Monday!

I feel like I just walked out the door this morning to be honest.
Even though I was in before 0800.
Had to leave before 1800 in order to buy some vitamins and get the new internet 100% installed.

Just whipping up an omelet now, listening to Danish Radio P3 :D

Oh yes, a seal was swimming outside my office window today.
Very very cool indeed.
